We start near the Kuli’ou’ou state trailhead, but take a steeper less traveled HTMC route. It encircles the top of the valley, traversing a long stretch of the Ko’olau summit ridge, overlooking Waimanalo. Be forewarned that this strenuous trail has some narrow precipitous sections.
