No presents for Christmas? How about three today? The first has the best view; the second has the best rest stop; and third has the best scare. For whichever peak you choose, you will be richly rewarded. The club first hiked this trail on March 13 of 1921

We’ll trundle along in the footsteps of mountain man Richard (Likeke) Davis, who singlehandedly built this trail in the early 1960s. Our goal is a small, but delightful waterfall nestled below the Pali lookout.

On the leeward side is this enticing ridge which will reward the stalwart hiker with a good work-out and great views. Bring  at least 2-3 liters of water, sun block, and a hat to deal with the sweltering heat and lack of shade.

This is a route up a brushy and sometimes crumbly  side ridge that overlooks the mauka portion of Makaha Valley. Pu'u Ohikilolo beckons you from a distant ridge. Bring plenty of water and don't leave anything valuable in your car.

If we are lucky, we will see monk seals sunbathing near the tip of the island. Be careful you don't step on a booby(?) or its nest hidden in the native plants. Stay on the designated trail and enjoy this "no drive" zone.
