(3 Mi/Novice/Ridge/Lanikai)
Coordinator Steve Brown, ph 247-8845.
Club last hiked this:

A mix of shadows and moonlight may conjure an enchanted evening of hiking on this ridge overlooking the Lanikai shoreline where from across the crowded concrete bunkers at the top you may find your true love.  There'll be some climbing but not particularly challenging overall on this ridge of loose and rocky terrain.  Strap on your head lamps, lace up your sturdy shoes, zip up your wind jackets and never let her go.

First hiked by the club on February 20, 1920, this magnificent switchback route was built by plantation workers under James B. Castle in 1906. CCC crews then extended the trail from the saddle to the summit in 1935. Take extreme care on the narrow eroded sections and look out for the bottomless mudholes.

Starting from the pine forest of Wa’ahila State Park, make a Herculean climb into the clouds, just as the early HTMC members did on 9 June 1911, to Mt Olympus peak. The view from atop is epic. Expect steep narrow sections.
