The trail loops through the lush vegetation of Waiahole Valley, crossing Waianu stream twice (expect wet feet).  HTMC members first hiked this trail, which follows the old irrigation tunnel system, on Sept 26, 1920, and they probably shared the cobblestones with pack-mule traffic.

Join us for a different kind of event. There will be some hiking involved, along with puzzle solving. Teams will compete to be the first to find and decipher all the clues. Since part of the initial task is to determine where to go on the island, no information will be provided beforehand about the general location.

Although the access has improved, Kawailoa is still a bear of a hike - long, rough, and muddy. In its heyday in the 1930s, this route was one of the CCC's finest "sidewalk" trails to the Ko’olau summit. HTMC first hiked the trail on May 12, 1935, about six months after its completion.

Two windward ridges connected in a loop hike provide a day in rural Oahu. Ocean views, valley trails and forested ridges yield a good, but not too difficult workout.

After a long hiatus, HTMC has regained access to this wonderful valley trail in the Ko’olau foothills above Hale’iwa.  It follows Kawainui stream to one of the largest freshwater pools on O’ahu.  We'll be driving through locked gates as a group, so no early departures, please.
