This short ridge route is mostly steep, sometimes narrow, and occasionally scary. Watch your footing constantly, and you'll end up safely in the graveyard.

A relatively easy jaunt in the windward Ko’olau foothills provides nice views of the coastline on one side, and the fluted Ko’olau wall on the other. Check out the new route pioneered by Dayle & Jacque Turner.

Little has changed since HTMC first hiked this lengthy contour trail on October 6, 1935.  The lower portion is still a hot, dusty, jeep road, and the upper portion is a cool native forest.  Midway along, a short detour to a delightful waterfall pool is an option.

This intricate double loop wanders through a vast, undeveloped windward valley. Watch closely for the many junctions and wade gingerly across the fast flowing stream. HTMC first hiked Kahana on July 4, 1920 as part of a Ko’olau traverse from the Schofield side.

An early start is required for this long tough hike along the Kapalama ridgeline. Few have ever stood on Pu’u Lanihuli. Allow plenty of time for the return which will be just as tough as the ascent.

This diversion off the more pedestrian Manoa Falls Trail brings the adventurer to terms with swarms of mosquitoes, complex trail junctions, scrambles through thickets, hidden cascades and the serenity of a remote corner of the rainforest.

A fun, looping adventure with a great workout and fabulous water hole.  Pay attention to the trail junctions so you don’t get lost in the labyrinth of the undulating hills and stream crossings.  Be prepared for mud, mosquitoes & memories of departed fellow hikers.
