This short, but strenuous loop offers an exciting variety of valley, ridge, and summit hiking. Kulepeamoa was put together from old and new routes by Jason Sunada, Stuart Ball, and Gerald Leao in 1995.

An easy walk in the woods nestled behind a quiet neighborhood. Remnants of old stone terraces and a water flume lead us to a pool of clear water flowing from a hole in a dike.

Hike two miles on a dirt carriage road, crossing several stone bridges, and passing the historic Damon summerhouse site, before plunging into the hau jungle. There are numerous stream crossings, then a steep climb to the Ko’olau summit, overlooking Haiku Valley

The State Na Ala Hele program is looking for groups of 6 to 12 volunteers to build/replace the stairs to the summits on WiliwilinuiHawaii Loa and Kuliouou Trails.  The training session is for leaders who will form core groups for repeated occasional service trips until the work is complete.  Use of tools and materials located at the work site will be demonstrated.

National Guard troops under Colonel Bowman developed a training route behind Fort Shafter in 1919. The next year HTMC began hiking this arduous trail to the Ko’olau summit. Watch for the metal pipes marking the boundary of Fort Shafter.

Drive to the north shore for this pleasant woodsy stroll. The club first hiked this trail on April 14, 1935
