Follow the leader up this popular and short route to the summit at the eastern end of the Koolau Range. Enjoy wonderful views with many photo ops as we gain elevation.  This should be a memorable group experience.

This picturesque rambling loop hike on the ridges and valleys below Mt. Kaala includes a steep uphill and a steep downhill. Watch for the critical junctions to insure a safe return. The club first hiked this trail on July 15, 1928

Our goal is a broad hill on the Wai’anae Range at 2,600 ft elevation where three valleys converge, featuring a fabulous panorama of the north shore, Mount Ka’ala, the LeewardCoast and Makua Valley. You’ll be able to enjoy the Mokuleia Trail on the way there.

Feb 13-15 Sat-Mon  MOKULE’IA CAMPOUT – LIMIT OF 15 – RESERVATIONS REQUIRED BY JAN 31 – PARTICIPATION IS SUBJECT TO THE COORDINATOR’S APPROVAL

An up and down, highly scenic hike along the rim of Makua Valley leads to an idyllic campsite nestled below the Wai’anae summit. On the middle day, hike to Three Corners, Peacock Flat, or just laze around camp. The closest water source is a small stream that dries up during drought conditions.

Pauoa is a mixed-plate hike. Ridge line, pipe-line, valley stream, waterfall, hill scramble, all-in-one for a Hawaiian sampler day. An aerobic intro to our local woods.

HTMC: Mo'o Kapu o Haloa Circuit 2/6/10


Feb 6 Sat 8AM MO’O KAPU O HALOA CIRCUIT

(8 Mi/Intermediate/Valley/Hakipu’u-Ka’a’awa)

Our route leads up Hakipu’u Valley to a low saddle that will take us over a muddy, steep trail into spectacular Ka’a’awa Valley, the filming site of Jurassic Park and other movies. Aside from the climb over the saddle, the hike is on jeep roads and is easy walking. Bring $5.00 extra for the fee to the ranch.  We may be able to visit the photo gallery in the old military bunkers near the end of the hike.
